Mole Check

Clonakilty Medical Clinic  are offering a comprehensive Mole check which will be carried out by Dr Diarmuid Cahill

The technique used is called ‘Dermoscopy’ which can detect early signs of changes in moles or other potentially cancerous lesions

During a skin check Dr Cahill will examine your entire skin surface, including areas not usually exposed to sunlight with a hand held instrument called a dermatoscope

The accuracy of the clinical diagnosis of cutaneous melanoma, for example, with the unaided eye is only about 60%

Dermoscopy, a non-invasive technique for the microscopic examination of pigmented skin lesions, has the potential to improve the diagnostic accuracy

Dr Cahill is able to biopsy, treat and remove a number of skin lesions and arrange assessment and further treatment by specialist dermatologist or surgical colleagues if necessary

The check will incur a standard GP visit fee of €60 (not covered by Medical Card)
